Mr. and Mrs. Wormwood looked forward greatly to the time when they could pick their little daughter off and flick her away, preferably to the next country or even further away.
As if things couldn't get worse already... Then there's the school principal - Miss ( "THE" ) Trunchbull, a former hammer-throwing champion who flings children by their hair at will and is approximately as sympathetic as an enraged rhinoceros on a rampage.
Fortunately, Matilda has the inner resources to deal with annoyances :

She aims some practical jokes at her parents and the Trunchbull.
This book is far away from predictable. Each chapter is so hilarious. Along with her other gifts, she has real feelings that I felt through the text and it really stirred up my emotions!
