Now, I am no professional, but all I am is a 15-year old ( okay,14. But my birthday is in 3 months. ) who just discovered quite a bit about it, and has got loads of stuff to share with the world.
Dissociative identity disorder commonly known as DID is the presence of 2 or more distinct personalities within oneself. If you feel it sounds complicated, then imagine living it. But it has so much more to it than a simple 'disorder'. Normally, when someone faces immense trauma at a very young age, their brains are unable to handle it, which makes it develop alternate states within one individual. These alters or individuals can be very different from each other, just like you and me. These Alters can have different IQ levels, health issues, talents, physical strength, genders, ages, and therefore, personalities, all within one body.

The existence of these individuals is proof of the actual potential our brains can possess, its ability to make all these different individuals co-existing with one another within the mind. Maybe this is where our beliefs of the 'Supernatural ' or the 'Unknown' come from. Mesmerizing, isn't it?
Well, not so much according to our society. It was not until I was casually scrolling through YouTube that a video titled ' I spent a day with MULTIPLE PERSONALITIES' came up in my recommended and I decided to watch it. And let me tell you, out of all the school education-related videos I have ever watched, this is what I called INFORMATIVE. And that is why I genuinely request you guys to watch it. Because reading is so much more different than actually witnessing it with your own eyes.

Anthony Padilla, the owner of the channel, interacted with 3 individuals with DID. The one that struck me the most was A woman called Nin or one of the altars called NIN. She had 22+ alters and switched into 2 different alters within the video. One of them was a 9-year-old Little ( I think that's what the altar was called ) who started crying upon being asked what she would like to tell to all the people out there who have DID. She was just a child, and having to experience adult life and being judged is really saddening. We need to treat people with kindness, after all, they have gone through, they deserve no less.

But this can only be possible if we talk more about it. I mean, honestly before learning about all this, I was just scared of it. And so many more are. And I don't blame them, because we were never taught about it. Never told it was never their fault and in no way, are they a danger to society as some believe. In fact, it's them who are more vulnerable out there, some as young as 9. It's a pity how our society cannot handle the fact that there is someone different out there, unique, from the everyday crowd. Maybe because some have reached a point where they don't believe such a thing exists, the reason why we need to be taught about it in schools from a young age.
One of the few times a DID-related topic was portrayed in public was in the movie 'Split '. An excellent movie from an entertainment point of view as well as the acting. Because it portrayed one of the altars of the man as a scary one, some people found it a bit offensive. But nevertheless, do check it out and form your own opinion. At least get to know something about the DID from the movies if not from school.

In the end, I would like to say. How can we expect to develop in the coming future if we cannot embrace all the different aspects within the human race that make it beautiful?
We, the generation, are the future. And we will change all of that and give the people the life and respect they deserve. The least we can do is write and share articles like these because awareness is the key to everything.
